A parable about what you need to do to become a good person
An old Indian once revealed a certain truth of life to his grandson:
„Listen carefully. There’s a battle going on within each of us. It’s like a fight between two wolves. One wolf represents evil—meanness, aggression, jealousy, lies, and other negative human traits. The other represents good—love, peace, kindness, truth, and other positive human traits.”
The little Indian pondered, then asked:
„Tell me, Grandpa, which of these wolves ultimately wins? The evil one or the good one?”
The grandfather smiled, tenderly hugged his grandson, and, looking into his eyes, said:
– Remember, grandson – the wolf you feed always wins.
11 Rules of Our Ancestors

source: „Health Without Medicines” issue 49, July 2021 page 13.
Read these eleven points again, this story of the Native Americans, and think for a moment…
What do these words of wisdom remind us of?
Do they not resemble the teachings of Christ?
Consider how many verses in the entire Bible say practically the same thing.
Almost all of these principles are contained in this one commandment:
„Teacher, which commandment is the greatest? And He said to him, ’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.’ And the second is like it: ’You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” – Matthew 22:36-40
If we respect ourselves and love ourselves, we won’t act against our bodies, our spirituality, or our psyche. We will eliminate everything that destroys us. That is: toxic food, addictions, overeating, obesity, disease, evil…
Of course, we need to acquire knowledge on how to live a healthy life, but doesn’t eating fast food and consuming sugar in any form damage our bodies and our minds?
And how…
Why do we do it?
Because it tempts us with its smell and taste. However, frequent consumption of such foods will cause physical and mental illness. That’s why the Bible informs us, and even commands us, to love and respect ourselves. When we do this truly sincerely, we will be careful about what we eat, what we say, what we think.
What happens when I’m constantly stressed, have a bad temper, worry about everything, get upset over the smallest thing, have a bad mood, destroy others…?
Simply put, if I’m a very unhappy person, then how can I love and respect myself if I’m moody, angry, vindictive, unable to forgive, and often offended?
Someone who doesn’t know God but applies the law of love can be happier than someone who knows God but ignores the law of love.
Those who have developed these beautiful skills, such as controlling their thoughts, words, and actions, are truly happy. In such a spiritual and mental state, they can achieve beautiful things: in health, in faith, in finances, in family matters, and so on. And most importantly, we can teach those around us how to achieve these wonderful qualities. When there are more valuable people with these beautiful skills, life is much more enjoyable and happier.
And yet, that’s what it’s all about: to live with God, with Biblical truth, in honesty, love, and mutual support.
Notice, reader, that there’s no advice here such as: to be rich means to have a lot of money.
Why?
Because too much money won’t buy health, love, or friends:
“For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil; and some, by their desire for it, have been led astray from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows” – 1 Timothy 6:10.
“Wealth is of no avail in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death” – Proverbs 11:4.
Of course, in this system, you need money. A lack of money means family quarrels and constant stress over bills. That’s why it’s worth minimizing high living expenses. Let’s organize our lives so that we can easily cover our expenses and always have money set aside for a rainy day. This gives us more peace of mind.
Whoever has the ability to earn money, the talent for entrepreneurship, and business development has greater financial responsibility. They shouldn’t keep all their money for themselves, but use it on projects for God. They will also be held accountable to God for this gift, this skill, this talent for earning money. Because we receive talents and abilities as gifts from God. We are to use them according to God’s purpose.
The beauty of life is that you can live a more modest life than wealthy people, yet still be healthy, cheerful, joyful, and truly happy.
Wealth guarantees nothing. Instead, it adds further temptations that must be overcome. The vanity of buying more expensive things, escaping on vacation trips and gadgets will not lead to an abundance of happiness or health.
Love, the ability to forgive, thanking God for what we have, helping others, and building a beautiful personality all require time and knowledge.
“In everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Yeshu.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
“…but if I do not have love, I am nothing.” – 1 Corinthians 13:2–3.
Money won’t help much here. It won’t buy love, health, forgiveness, or salvation.
We must learn, implement, and cultivate these qualities throughout our lives. All the knowledge on how to do this is available in the Bible. It’s completely free:
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” – 2 Timothy 3:16–17
It is worth changing, repairing and improving your life because a beautiful future awaits us:
„I am running/rushing/pursuing toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling/call/invitation of God in Christ Yeshu” – Philippians 3:14.
