The Bible contains many descriptions of the world created by God.
But does it indicate that the earth is a sphere, as modern textbooks and the world teach, or rather a flat surface stretched over foundations with mountains and valleys?
Let us look carefully at passages of Holy Scripture to find the answer.

1 – Water is in the sky and on the earth

The Bible speaks of the waters under the firmament (on the earth) and the waters above the firmament (in the sky):

„And God said: Let there be a firmament/dome (H7549) in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters… And God made the firmament/dome (H7549), and divided the waters which were under the firmament/dome (H7549) from the waters which were above the firmament/dome (H7549). And God called the firmament/dome (H7549) Heaven.” – Genesis 1:6–8

The word with the number H7549 is:
• firmament, expansion, stretching, dome.
• It comes from the verb רָקַע (rāqaʿ, H7554) – “to break, stretch, iron out”.
• A firmament is something solid and stretched, like a metal dome.
• It is not about the “vacuum of space”, but about the physical structure separating the waters.
During the flood, the waters gushed out of the earth (the sources of the abyss) and fell from the sky (the outlets of the heavens):

„In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that very day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows/openings of the heavens were opened.” – Genesis 7:11

Meaning of the expression – “all the fountains of the great deep”:
• מַעְיָן (maʿyān, H4599) – source, water gush, outflow,
• תְּהוֹם (tehôm, H8415) – abyss, watery depth, underground waters,
• רַבָּה (rabbāh, H7227) – great, huge, numerous,
• Together: “all the fountains of the great deep” – the expression indicates waters located underground, which were released to flood the earth.
Meaning of the expression – “the windows/openings of the heavens were opened”:
• אֲרֻבָּה (arubbāh, H699) – window, sluice, opening, hatch (e.g. in the vault),
• הַשָּׁמַיִם (ha-shamayim, H8064) – heavens,
• Together: “the windows/openings of the heavens were opened” – i.e. in the vault (רָקִיעַ – rāqîaʿ) “windows” were created, through which water fell from above onto the earth.
The flood was the result of the waters from below (the abyss/watery depths) and the waters from above (the heavens) merging.

The earth was created from water and by water, water being the original material of creation:

„For they deliberately forget that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago, and the earth was formed out of water and through water.” – 2 Peter 3:5

2 – The Earth is a circle, a wheel

God sits above the circle of the earth:

„He who sits above the circle/roundness/sphere (H2329) of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers…” – Isaiah 40:22

God establishes a circle over the waters:

„When He built the heavens, I was there; when He marked out the circle/roundness/sphere (H2329) over the surface of the deep.” – Proverbs 8:27

God walks in the circle of heaven:

„Clouds cover Him so that He does not see, and He walks on the circle/roundness/sphere (H2329) of the heavens.” – Job 22:14

The boundary of light and darkness described as a circle above the waters:

„He has inscribed a circle/roundness/sphere (H2329) on the surface of the waters as a boundary between light and darkness.” – Job 26:10

Let’s see the difference between the earth-circle and the earth-sphere. At first glance, both are shaped like a circle. However, when we see what a circle looks like and what a sphere looks like, the difference is huge.

According to the Bible, the earth is a circle:

Let’s look at a small detail, do we use the term: circle or ring?
A circle is:
• a geometric figure – a set of points equidistant from the center,
• „circle of the earth” – if we want to emphasize mathematical correctness (because it is a figure).
A ring is:
• an administrative, military or electoral area,
• a designated territorial area,
• „ring of the earth” in the Bible is a synonym for „circle” or „hoop„, i.e. the round shape of the earth from the perspective of an observer.

3 – The Earth is a Tent

God stretches out the sky like a tent, which means something flat and spread out above the earth.

„He who sits above the circle of the earth, whose inhabitants are like grasshoppers, stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.” – Isaiah 40:22

The word „curtain” is close in meaning to „tent” – something spread and thin, stretched over a surface:

„You cover Yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a curtain.” – Psalm 104:2

Both the heavens and the earth were “stretched out” – which fits the image of the tent as a structure of cloth stretched over the structure:

„Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it…” – Isaiah 42:5

Summary

In the Bible, the earth is described as:
• stationary (Psalm 104:5),
• with four corners (Rev. 7:1),
• supported by pillars (1 Sam. 2:8),
• with a dome/vault above it (Gen. 1:6–8).
This description, plus the above verses, suggests a flat earth, round like a coin, with a firmament above it.

NASA and modern science say that:
• the earth is a geoid – an almost perfect sphere slightly flattened at the poles.
• the earth rotates on its axis and orbits the sun.
• Evidence includes satellite images, astronomical observations, orbital flights.

This message is based on conjecture because:
• no original photos, only computer renderings,
• inconsistencies in the materials (e.g. changing continents),
• ideological assumptions of science that contradict the Biblical message.

That is why we need to ask the key question:
Who do you believe – God or people?

The probable appearance of the universe:

Does the Bible write about the position of the sun and stars, i.e. where are they located: in the dome or outside it?
