Christmas: What does the Bible say about this holiday?

December is the month of the worldly and religious holiday: Christmas.
According to the ideology of this holiday, God was born in Bethlehem, hence the name of this holiday – „Christmas”.
Let’s see what the Bible says about this holiday.

First stage: Christ acts in the name of God the Father

Christ was created first. He existed before the creation of the world:

Long ago God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets at different times and in different ways. In these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son. God has appointed Him heir of all things and made the universe through Him.” – Hebrews 1:1-2.

It follows that Christ did not begin His work at the moment of His birth on earth. He lived long before that as a spiritual Figure in heaven and created the world in the name of His Father: and made the universe through Him.

We have more verses speaking about Christ’s life before His birth in Bethlehem:

„All things were created through Him, and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created.” – John 1:3.

„For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether Thrones or Dominions or Rulers or Authorities — all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together.” – Colossians 1:16-17.

These verses are clear, distinct, and obvious. They cannot be refuted or denied to be in the Bible. They tell us that Christ created the world on behalf of God or together with God the Father.

Second Stage: Christ Acts as the Son of Man

In His work on earth, Christ did not say about Himself: „I am God”. There are no such verses, therefore the name of the holiday is misleading: „Christmas”. If we were to stick to the Word of God, then we should call this holiday: „The Birth of the Son of God”, „The Birth of the Son of Man” or „The Birth of the Anointed One”.

This is how Christ spoke about Himself:

And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges Me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, but whoever denies Me before others will be denied before the angels of God. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” – Luke 12:8-10.

But you,” He asked them,“who do you say that I am? Peter answered Him, “You are the Messiah.” And He strictly warned them to tell no one about Him.” – Mark 8:29-30.

Despite everything, Christ was the second most important Person/Spiritual Figure in the universe, and yet He humbled Himself to the form of a human. We can always say that He is God, but let us respect the humiliation of Christ when He was in the Form of a human. At that time, He did not call Himself: God.

“who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God as something to be exploited. Instead He emptied Himself by assuming the form of a servant, taking on the likeness of humanity. And when He had come as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death — even to death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:6-8.

Third Stage: Christ Acts as God

Christ returned to heaven after death:

Don’t cling to Me,”Yeshu told her, since I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brothers and tell them that I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.”John 20:17.

“Now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with that Glory I had with You before the world existed.” – John 17:5.

This is another verse that contradicts the doctrine of the Holy Trinity. It shows the inferiority of Christ to God the Father.
If Christ were to be both the Son and the Father, as the Catholic religion says, then the words: „I ascend to My Father” would make no sense.
Does this mean that Christ ascends to Himself?
After ascending to heaven, the Son of God received all authority in heaven and on earth. From that moment on, as the ruler, as God, He acts under His name:

Yeshu came near and said to them,All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” – Matthew 28:18.

Is the name “Christmas” just a small, insignificant mistake?

Please remember that the devil is in the details:

  • changes the letter in the name of Christ with the correct name Yeshu/Yeshu, NOT „Jesus”.
  • The apostles did not know this holiday, so they did not celebrate it. And the Bible says that the faith was delivered only once to the saints: „to contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints” – Jude 1:3. Since the faith was delivered only once to the apostles, and the apostles did not know this holiday, who added it to the principles of the faith which were once delivered to the saints?
  • Christ was not born on December 25. We do not know the exact date of Christ’s birth.
  • Christmas originated in the 4th century. Long after the death of the Apostles.
  • Nowhere in the Bible is there any instruction that we should honor the birth of the Son of God. If it were important, then surely God would have commanded such a celebration as He did with the Memorial of Christ’s death: .LINK
  • On December 25, under Lucius Domitius Aurelian, the Roman emperor, the cult of the sun „sol invictus” was introduced as a celebration of the birth of the unconquered sun. This date was probably chosen to refer to the Roman festival of Saturnalia and the birth of the Unconquered Sun (Sol Invictus), celebrated at the same time. Christianity could thus have adapted to existing traditions, giving them new meaning.

Let’s Summarize

What does the Bible say about this holiday?
Christmas is a religious holiday. It is not a biblical holiday. There is no such holiday in the Bible. The apostles did not celebrate and did not know about this holiday.
The birth of Christ was an important event. It is worth remembering it, discussing the principles of faith, and talking about biblical topics. However, we do not decide which holidays to celebrate. God decides.
If the apostles did NOT celebrate this holiday after Christ’s death, we should not either.
